After the resurrection, Jesus begins to appear to the disciples and this story of the appearance with the men on the road to Emmaus is one of the most memorable. There are some interesting things we can learn from the two men and how Jesus intervenes in their traumatic experiences.

Easter Sunday is a celebration of God's victory over the grave and the promise for all of those in Christ. Today we complete the Becoming Lenten journey with this final I am statement: "I am the resurrection and the life." Jesus walks with his friends through tears and grief and then shows the fullness of his mission by bringing Lazarus back to life.

The disciples find themselves in troubled times with the impending death of Jesus and his warning of hardship. In the upper room, Jesus comforts them with critical promises that will carry them through the experience of the first holy week and beyond. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life bears weight on our current context as we face unprecedented times.

In our current season, what does it mean that Jesus is the light of the world and what are the implications for us? This statement from Jesus is not just a throwaway line in the gospel, it carries historic weight for the original audience and shapes our own faith today.

The Lord is our Good Shepherd and He is calling us to follow Him and know His voice in every moment of life. We are also encouraged to do as He does and keep watch, guard, guide and provide for those around us.

Jesus is teaching to skeptics and followers in John 10 when he describes himself as the gate and the shepherd. How can he be both? In light of everything going on around us, today we consider what it means that Jesus is the gate.

Rev. Chris Harrison continues our "Becoming" series by preaching on John 15, where Jesus says, "I am the true Vine."

As we begin this lenten series, Becoming, we look to the first "I am" statement of Jesus. In this passage the followers of Jesus make it easy for us to relate to the many times that we just misunderstand faith. Jesus is leading them from surface level religion to the heart of the matter...understanding that Jesus is the bread of life.

 

As we close out this series now we turn to what the deeply rooted life produces in the world. Gratitude is what Paul says should be obvious in the believer's life. Where does gratitude come from?

As we continued our series we are now learning what it means to live into the life given in Christ. This faith jourey is about discipleship and community and one aspect of that is growing in knowledge and wisdom of the mysteries of faith. Paul says that this is critical to maturity.
