In Mark 10:32-45 Jesus tells his disciples that he is headed for the cross. If he’s headed for the cross, how are we supposed to follow him? Jesus gives us the key: the way to follow Jesus is to serve!

When we offer our tithes and our gifts at the altar, our generosity participates in the generosity of God – and safeguards our hearts against the temptation toward the idolatry of seeking to secure our lives through wealth and other material means.

We generally understand corporate worship (worship where we gather, like a concert or church service), but what do we do with prayer and worship when we get home? How do we not get burdened or legalistic about prayer and worship, and how do we plow through periods of discouragement or boredom in our time with the LORD? Let's get talking!

As disciples of Jesus, we pray and worship individually and corporately, verbally and silently, and through feasting and fasting. The book of Psalms in the Bible helps us learn how to live our whole lives before God. Whether things are going great or not so great, we can bring it to God in prayer or in praise.

Today we're talking about pursuing holiness of heart and life, the third distinctive of KMC as a worshiping community. Holiness is weird. Its literal definition is "Set Apart," but that definition feels like it makes more sense"sense" when you talk about the OT nation of Israel. They were literally a set apart country and culture... So what do we do as NT believers that are integrated with believers? Are we called to be monks living in the desert!? How do we loudly/boldly join the world we live in, but stay set apart? If Jesus is really Lord over our lives and we trust the Holy Spirit, we will order our lives toward holiness: we will desire a life ‘set apart’ for the living God. This is the life of discipleship to Jesus.
